I remember Nate brought up a long time ago ( i cant remember when), should DisciplesConnect stay its course or should DisciplesConnect change it's strategy in a way to become a player to better connect young adults and empower the greater church to connect so that it can carry its ministry across nations from their computer?

Keeping Up
I edited yet again...lol. I was way ahead of myself. Anyway...
I look at just what I use to just stay on top of school assignments and school work. It would be amazingly tough to do school without all the resources available. I look at some major websites of Evangelical and Non-Denominational churches in town, they have all these nice, pretty, and compelling websites. I go to any denominational church website in town... its ugly, outdated, and not compelling. If I were a young adult looking for a church, I think I would know where I would go to first. So to simply ask, why isn't the DoC current with technology?
Conversing With Our Enemies
I watched my usual hour of CNN news, “The Situation Room”. Wolf Blitzer was off thank goodness… His monotone voice can be so irritating. Then I saw Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi speaking with Syrians. I was so happy that someone from our government was willing to converse with them. Someone was willing to commit non-threatening dialogue with a nation whom has been shut out by the Bush Administration.
Embracing What Some Hate and Avoid
I attended a statewide retreat at Central Michigan University with the United Methodist Wesley Foundation (Campus Ministry). It was a most interesting retreat not because of the excitement or spiritualness of it, but because of how controversial the topic was to most in attendance at the retreat. When I say I embrace what some hate and avoid, I am not referring to my favor for mayonnaise, but for my acceptance of power. The pastor had challenged everyone to define, accept, and use..."Power".
Only a year and a half away!!!!!!!!!!!
HEY HEY!
Last night i was talking to my girlfreind, Alex, about pretty much everything that was on my mind. Then something just hit me, i just realized General Assembly is a year and a half away!!!! Alex gave me this "ok??", the ok implieing that i'm a dork for getting excited about something thats a year and a half away. But some of us from Michigan want to gather as a group and go down to the General Assembly in Fort Worth.
So really, raising money for us to go, should start this year's summer and fall time. Especially for a good sized group to go. Our church raised i think $1500 for me and alex to go to Portland. So to send a group of like 8, that would be a large amount of money. It would be sooo much fun with a group. And then i get to see people from General Assembly again!
Its Hard To Change "Tradition"
I actually was going to put this under Beau's Blog some time ago, but then I ran out of time, saved it, and forgot about it. And then I found it again.
Tradition reminds me of, "the way we have always done it" or things that are staying the way they are and no one can do a thing about it. Last year, I accepted the invitation to join the Church Council. I'm on the Council this year, for the second time, because I just couldn’t get enough of it (yea I know I’m a dork). My position as member at large has no power in actually calling the shots. But when I started, I still felt I had some power and could get some things passed. As I found out, it was a lot harder than what I thought. I had to talk to people that knew some people. There’s another word that starts with a B and ends with ureaucracy, but I’ll refrain from saying that word the word as a whole.
