No, I'm not going to write a review of the interesting, quiet movie starring Bill Murray and Scarlet Johansson - though it is a good movie. I'm going to talk about going from seminary back to church.

Staring into Space
Last Monday, I walked across the stage of the National Cathedral and received my diploma. Behind me, beyond the choir area of the massive, beautiful Episcopalian cathedral, a holy wall lined with past saints looked on as I completed one journey and moved irrevocably into the future.
Happy New Year
Well, it's been another year here at Disciples Connect. A new year always brings in fresh changes and new possibilities.
The big news is that I am "graduating" off of the Young Adult Commission. I served for about three years faithfully with this great team of young adults and staff from HELM and DHM. Good people - good ideas. We faced a truly daunting task of trying to begin forming a new young adult ministry for Disciples. This meant stuff at GA and coordinating stronger connections through the internet and stuff. We've made progress, but there is still always more to do.
What's Next for Disciples Connect?
Well, I admit that it's been a long time since I've posted.
Disciples Connect runs fine by itself, but things do get quiet here if there isn't a steady presence. Part of my absence, other than the occasional checkups, has been because we are using Facebook more in my region to connect young adults and youth. This means Disciples Connect may need another and better focus.
Living In the Tensions
I've been spending a lot of time thinking about church stuff, especially the emerging church. (Yes, Dorothy, I will be emailing/calling you back as soon as I get a chance - sort of swamped with a sermon for class tomorrow.) I have the pleasure of working with a local team that is planning a regional conference on revitalization - our theme is the emerging church. I like the topic - it's near to my heart, even though I may not always be up on what is the most latest and edgy. However, authentic, relevant church is always on my agenda.
DisciplesConnect... Is Transformed!
Hey all... I'm sitting here in Indianapolis with my buddies of the Young Adult Commission. We are talking about the future of young adult ministry, the exciting events for the upcoming General Assembly in Ft. Worth, and more plans for the year. It's exciting to be a part of such a group with so many fresh ideas and input as to where the church needs to be moving and the ways it can embrace the passion of young adults.
In the midst of that, I decided to update DisciplesConnect. We have a new look and the system underneath is all fancy and better now. I suppose. What do you think?
