Discipline

When the whole world celebrates your success and accomplishments, this is the time to remember the Lord. Your children's birthdays, graduations, quinceaƱeras, new job, promotion, the health of your family, and having food on your table are usually things we all take for granted and do not give the Lord the thanks he deserves. He does so much for us and we usually only remember him on holidays and difficult, painful, times. We are so quick to blame the bad times on God's punishment and so slow to thank him for the good times, our blessings, and his love for us. It is during these hard and painful moments that we should rejoice in the Lord. Scripture tells us that the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son" Hebrews 12:6. Rejoice in hard painful moments because he is treating us like his children. We tend to do things our way and ignore God's will which brings about his discipline. It is important to thank the Lord for his discipline, because it enables us to learn from our mistakes and it teaches us to follow his plan for our lives, which is so much better than our own. May he always be the first invited to our celebrations and the first we cry out to in times of distress, because he is our God.
